Bedrock 26.60, NetherNet and joining Solaryn
Minecraft Bedrock 26.60 changes how the game connects to servers. It uses NetherNet instead of the older RakNet transport. If a server still only accepts RakNet connections, a 26.60 client cannot join it.
What changed?
The transport carries data between your game and the server. NetherNet uses WebRTC to make that connection. For direct server connections using HTTP signaling, the game first makes a web request to arrange the connection, then sends gameplay traffic over UDP.
You don't need to install NetherNet separately. It's part of Minecraft. The server's connection software and network settings need to support it too.
Which Bedrock versions can join?
Solaryn supports Minecraft Bedrock 26.40 through 26.60. If you're within that range, you don't need to change versions just because NetherNet has been introduced.
- 26.60: requires NetherNet and a gateway build that supports 26.60.
- 26.40 through 26.60: these are the Bedrock versions Solaryn supports. The connection method can differ between releases, but the supported range stays the same.
- Below 26.40 or above 26.60: outside our current supported range. Update an older client, or check announcements before moving to a newer release.
Keeping an old RakNet listener open cannot make an unsupported game version work. Transport support and game-version support are separate requirements.
What this means for Solaryn
Supporting 26.60 means the Bedrock gateway needs both 26.60 game-version support and a working NetherNet connection. The console connection service has to handle that release too. Those are changes on the server side; players do not need a separate NetherNet download.
Our current console guides use 26.60. Versions from 26.40 through 26.60 remain supported; check Discord announcements for temporary connection problems or future changes to that range. Java version support is separate: a broad Java version range does not mean the same Bedrock versions can join.
Do console players need to change anything?
On console, use BedrockTogether on your phone. Enter play.solaryn.net and port 19132, then follow the Xbox, PlayStation or Switch steps.
There's no NetherNet switch you need to find in Minecraft's console menus. Changing DNS settings won't fix a gateway that lacks 26.60 support.
If you can't join, send Support your console or device, Minecraft version, how you tried to connect and the exact error message. That helps staff distinguish a version mismatch from a connection problem.
